School Environment Education & Action

When we discovered our calling to push for a green curriculum in school, we embarked on a journey to take CLIMATE and ENVIRONMENTAL LITERACY to the classroom level. We have continued to work with schools in Uganda through our “GREEN CHAMPIONS CLUBS” to give environmental knowledge and skills to the learners of both Primary and Secondary School Education. Our main aim here is to nurture these youngsters in environmentalism as they forge their way to adulthood. This since 2022 has helped in grooming these students into environmental stewardship. The Green champions clubs are a powerhouse for this environmental education and action in schools. Every school we go to, we first work with the school to create a club of 50 students with the help of a devoted teacher who oversees the club activities as their patron. We engage the students in both practical environmental skills and support skills. The core activities trained in are; Classroom Climate Change Education, Environmental Quizzes and Debates, Entrepreneurship, Treen Nursery Bed Establishment & Management, Waste Management ( with a major focus on the 4Rs), urban eco-farming practices as a measure for food security and lastly but not least we engage students in environmental & Climate Advocacy and Leadership in order to build pro-active citizens and decision makers who will be in the best position to defend environment and climate justice in Uganda and the world over. We have made tremendous efforts to bring Carbon Literacy trainings to our partnering schools as another way to promote the students’ and schools’ climate action and as well ensure sustainable lifestyles.
