Kids’ Green Santa Festival

We introduced “A Green Santa Christmas Festival” for kids in the peri-urban areas of Kampala city. The first of its kind in Uganda for kids of age ranging from 4 to 15 years that we organized at our offices in Kasangati on the 16th/December/2022. Our main objective was to have kids celebrate their charismas in a green vibe or style because many times Christmas is about good food with the families and friends, small parties here and there and literally generation of a lot of waste, but we decided to blend this kind of fun with an idea of raising awareness and concern for our devastated and forgotten environment!

On that day, the kids cited poems and sung lullabies, all with words and lyrics telling about how our environment is wanting and how the young people can get involved in resurrecting what is in a mess and safeguarding on what is remaining as stewards of the environment.

The kids made their green wishes to our “GREEN SANTA” in the house who blessed them with green gifts which included tree seedlings of especially fruit trees and the kids had to match around the community spreading a Christmas vibe about a green environment as they planted some of these tree seedlings to some households as their environmental action for that day.

We had targeted at least 20 kids in the community because of our handful of financial resources but we were amazed to receive over 50 kids in attendance for the event. We hope to do much better this year with a number of supporters coming on board to support this “Green Entertainment”
